The first 29′ Savage Sport Boat from Acrtive Thunder will be in Key West for FPC’s poker run!
Visitors to the Florida Powerboat Club’s Key West Poker Run Village will find the first 29’ Savage sportboat—featured in an August Boating magazine video review—from Active Thunder Boats when it opens on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. Powered by a pair of 300-hp Mercury Marine Verado outboard engines, the closed-bow 29-footer was completed by the Pompano Beach, Fla.-based boat builder in July.
“The owner is thrilled with the boat, but he only has 25 hours on it,” said Patrick Haughey, the owner of Active Thunder Boats who will head down to Key West the following day in one of his company’s 37-footers. “He’d have a lot more hours on it if he weren’t such a big Gators fan.” The open-bow version of the 29’ Savage, the first 29’ Defiant will be powered by a Mercury Racing 565 engine and is in the early stages of lamination. Haughey will display the boat at the 2016 Miami International Boat Show. Active Thunder currently has several other projects in the works, including future test-bed models for Mercury Marine. “We are in the process of rigging a 33 with twin Mercury Marine Verado 350 outboards,” said Haughey. “We’re also assembling at 37 with twin 540s from Mercury Racing.”
