Active Thunder’s Patrick Haughey is teaming up with Doller Offshore Marine.
On the heels of the release of his new open-layout, outboard engine-powered 29’ Defiant sportboat—the sister-ship to the closed-bow 29’ Savage—in late 2016, Active Thunder’s Patrick Haughey is teaming up with Mindi Doller of Doller Offshore Marine on sales of those and all other Active Thunder models in the Pompano Beach Fla.-based builder’s line. As the new Factory Showroom for Active Thunder, Doller currently has a 29’ Defiant on display as its home in nearby Hollywood, Fla.
“We will be handling the sales as we are a Mercury Dealer and offer full service, financing and more,” said Mindi Doller. “I have long been a fan of Active Thunder—the boats run so stable and perform extremely well. I really didn’t know what to expect when I was learning about the DDC (Duo Delta Conic) Hull Design. Pat took me out in an Active Thunder 37’ and I was sold. This same hull design is used in the new outboard powered sportboats, which provides and efficiency that translates to speed, yet also translates to stability for safety.”
Doller said her company will perform rigging and final assembly for the outboard-powered offerings. As a custom builder, Active Thunder crafts each model to the specification of a given client. Diane Haughey, Patrick’s wife, will continue to handle interior styling using “the latest fabrics and design.”
Doller said she is particularly excited at the opportunity to sell the open-layout outboard-powered 29-footer.
“Outboards are hot, but not everyone wants a center console,” she said. “We took out the 29’ Defiant the other day and had a blast. It’s such a great boat.”
