Active Thunder’s Patrick Haughey isn’t planning to add a center console to his sportboat line. But thanks to his son, Casey, the Pompano Beach, Fla., boat builder has “softened”—if that’s the right word—enough to be building his first open-bow model, the 29 Defiant. Although sticking with his power choice, a 565-hp Mercury Racing engine, the customer originally wanted the closed-deck model, the 29 Savage, but he changed his order to the open-bow 29-footer.
